Nova Scotia invites Express Entry French-speaking candidates in new draw

Nova Scotia invited French-speaking candidates through their Express Entry-linked Labour Market Priorities Stream on March 29.

The number of candidates who received Letters of Interest and the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score were not published.

The draw issued Letters of Interest to candidates who had French as their first official language selected, with a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of nine (9) or higher in French in all language abilities. The language abilities that the CLB tests candidates on are reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Candidates also needed a CLB score of at least seven (7) or higher in English in all language abilities.

Invited candidates also were required to have either a bachelor’s degree or completed a program of three (3) years or more at a university, college, trade, or technical school in the province.

Since the candidates were invited through the Labour Market Priorities Stream, candidates needed to have a valid Express Entry number and meet the minimum criteria to be accepted into the pool.

Candidates who received a Letter of Interest in this draw have sixty (60) calendar days to submit a complete application to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). Candidates also need to provide copies of their language test results as well as proof of education.

The Labour Market Priorities Stream allows Nova Scotia to search Canada’s federal Express Entry pool for eligible candidates who meet labour market needs of the province.

Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination automatically receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS score. This is a big benefactor in receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
