You can still enter the Express Entry pool with a low CRS score
Do you have a low Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and feel it may not be worthwhile to submit an Express Entry profile?
Have you been following the recent invitation rounds and see that those who receive invitations to apply (ITAs) have CRS scores above 460?
This can be discouraging, however, there are many reasons why having a low projected CRS score should not discourage you from entering the Express Entry pool. The Express Entry pool is comprised of candidates for three federal skilled worker immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Once you meet the eligibility criteria and are entered into the Express Entry pool, you will be given a score based on such factors: age, education, skilled work experience, and proficiency in English or French. This CRS score determines your rank in the Express Entry pool and your chances of being invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. Entering the Express Entry pool gives you an advantage and increases your chance of successfully immigrating to Canada.
The Express Entry thresholds are variable and unpredictable, what appears to be a low CRS score could allow you to earn an ITA. To improve your CRS score by retaking the language test, gaining work experience, pursuing more training, or working and studying in Canada. If you are offered a job while in the pool, your CRS score may increase the right amount to allow you to receive an ITA.
One stream of the Express Entry program is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which allows provinces and territories to nominate foreign workers and international graduates for permanent residence in Canada. If you enter the Express Entry pool and are eligible for a PNP, you may receive a Notification of Interest from a province. You must then apply to the province and if approved, you will receive a provincial nomination which automatically gets you 600 points towards your CRS score.
