British Columbia (B.C.) invited immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence this week. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (B.C. PNP) issued 81 invitations to apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry B.C. (EEBC) and Skills Immigration (SI) streams. B.C targeted 29 IT occupations in the Tech Pilot draw.

The EEBC stream is for candidates with a valid profile in the federal Express Entry system. The SI stream is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand.

Candidates issued invitations were under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate B.C. PNP Tech Pilot subcategories. Candidates need to have a job offer in an eligible tech occupation to be nominated. As well, the minimum required score for candidates who received invitations was 80 in all categories.

B.C. holds draws through two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) categories and streams every week. Through these PNP draws, provinces can nominate newcomers who can then settle into their labour market. B.C. has a reputation for innovation and tech expertise with a mind climate and is close to the U.S. markets, making B.C. attractive for businesses and workers.

To apply for the SI or EEBC categories, candidates must create a profile in the B.C. PNP’s online portal and register under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Applicants are then evaluated and issued a score based on personal factors, ex. education, work experience, English proficiency, and location of employment.
