Saskatchewan issued 248 invitations to principal applicants to apply for a provincial nomination on March 11.

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited candidates from the International Skilled Worker category. Of those invited, 176 may receive the nomination through the Occupations In-Demand sub-category, and 72 may be eligible for the SINP’s Express Entry sub-category.

All invited candidates were required to meet the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 71. Candidates also needed Educational Credential Assessments to show if their foreign education has a Canadian equivalent according to the standards.

Selected candidates needed to have valid work experience in one of the 70 in-demand occupations listed on the Saskatchewan government website. Some occupations include educational officers, social and community service workers, and purchasing agents.

The Occupations In-Demand sub-category is a base Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) which means it is open to immigration candidates who do not have a federal Express Entry profile. This sub-category is for highly skilled workers with experience in an in-demand occupation according to Saskatchewan, and who does not have a job offer in the province.

The Express Entry sub-category is an enhanced PNP, meaning it is linked to the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry candidates must also create a EOI profile for Saskatchewan to be considered for an invitation to apply for provincial nomination.
