Alberta issues 200 invitations to Express Entry candidates with lower CRS score
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) issued 200 invitations to Express Entry candidates to apply for the Alberta Express Entry stream. The draw was held on March 2nd.
Express Entry candidates are one step closer to become permanent residents.
Candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 301, a drop from previous draws this year.
Those invited, may now apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. All candidates that received invitations had a profile in the Express Entry system.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alberta is only considering candidates who are already living and working in the province.
Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for the three (3) Federal High Skilled immigration pathways. These include the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream is an enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for Express Entry candidates who have strong ties to the province or can support the government’s economic development and diversification priorities.
Candidates also need to have work experience in an eligible occupation. The AINP only provides a list of occupations that are ineligible for the requirements, meaning any other occupations are fair game.
However, as of November 1, 2020, the federal government increased the number of occupations that are ineligible to apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in Alberta. But candidates who received an invitation on or after November 1, 2020 can still be selected through the Alberta Express Entry Stream, even if they are working in an occupation that the government will not process an LMIA for.
