British Columbia issued 506 invitations to apply (ITAs) for a provincial nomination for permanent residence on March 16 through two draws.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (B.C. PNP) issued invitations to candidates from the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry B.C. (EEBC) streams. Specifically, invited candidates were from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled sub-categories of the SA and EEBC streams.

The B.C. PNP has now invited 2,432 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination so far this year.

The first draw held invited 78 candidates who have work experience in NOC 0621 (Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers) and NOC 0631 (Restaurant and Food Service Managers). Candidates needed a minimum provincial score of 114 in order to receive an invitation. Selected candidates were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate sub-categories of the SI and EEBC.

The second draw held invited the remaining number of candidates, 428, to apply for a provincial nomination. The minimum provincial scores required to receive an invitation ranged between 81 and 96. The exact breakdown of the provincial scores were as follows:

  • SI: Skilled Worker – minimum score of 96
  • SI: International Graduate – minimum score of 94
  • SI: Entry Level and Semi-Skilled – minimum score of 81
  • EEBC: Skilled Worker – minimum score of 96
  • EEBC: International Graduate – minimum score of 94.

The B.C. PNP aims to attract foreign workers who are in high demand in the province and who wish to become permanent residents in Canada. The Skills Immigration and Express Entry Streams of the B.C. PNP are both managed under B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). To apply through SIRS, candidates must first register an account. Once an account is made, candidates will be assigned a score based on factors such as education, work experience, and language abilities.
