Express Entry issue 512 ITAs to PNP candidates for permanent residence
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 512 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Express Entry candidates on August 4.
The IRCC targeted Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates who previously received a provincial nomination.
In order to receive an ITA, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 760. The score is high because Express Entry candidates automatically get 600 additional points when they receive their provincial nomination. This means that without the nomination, the lowest-scoring candidate would have had a CRS score of 160.
IRCC published the cut-off time for the tie-break rule as per administrative requirement. The tie-break rule time must be published regardless of whether there was any tie. Candidates who had the minimum CRS score only received an ITA if they submitted their Express Entry profile before March 5, 2021, at 22:38:31 UTC.
So far in 2021, IRCC has invited 99,316 Express Entry candidates through PNP and CEC draws. This time last year, IRCC had only issued 57,700 ITAs to Express Entry candidates. This suggests that the IRCC is dedicated to admitting 108,500 newcomers through the Express Entry system this year.
Express Entry is a points-based system that manages immigration applications for three Federal High Skilled programs: Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Some of the PNPs will use the Express Entry system to invite candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
Once deemed eligible for one of the Express Entry-managed programs, candidates will receive a score based on the CRS. The CRS awards candidate’s points based on various factors such as age, work experience, education, language skills, and more.
IRCC invites the highest scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence during regular rounds of invitations.
