British Columbia (B.C.) invited 51 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on August 10.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (B.C. PNP) issued the invitations through the B.C. PNP Tech to candidates with work experience in the IT sector.

Invited candidates must meet the requirements of one of B.C.’s Skills Immigration (SI) or Express Entry B.C. (EEBC) categories. These streams are managed by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

In this draw specifically, candidates were invited from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate sub-categories of the SI and EEBC. To receive an invitation, candidates needed to have a minimum provincial score of 80.

Those who received an invitation now have thirty (30) calendar days to apply for the nomination.

So far in 2021, B.C. has issued 7,092 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates through various streams.

The B.C. PNP Tech program started as a pilot project in May 2017 and was recently instated as a permanent program in May 2021. The program began with the purpose to address the issue of B.C.’s technology sector and their access to talent. B.C. technology companies can continue to attract and select international talent when there are no qualified local skilled workers.

The B.C. PNP Tech is for in-demand technology workers and international students. To be eligible, candidates need to be registered in one of B.C.’s existing immigration streams and have a valid job offer. A valid job offer must be for at least twelve (12) months in one of the twenty-nine (29) eligible occupations.

The job offer must have at least 120 days remaining at the time of the application to the B.C. PNP. The job must be for a full-time position and from an eligible employer in the province.

The B.C. PNP issues invitations on a weekly basis to candidates from the tech program who have high scores and meet the eligibility requirements.
