Express Entry draw sees 463 invites issued to PNP candidates

Canada issued 463 Invitations to Apply to provincial nominees in a new Express Entry draw held on August 18.

To receive an invitation, candidates needed to have previously received a provincial nomination from an Express Entry linked Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). As well, invited candidates had to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 751.

Since Express Entry provincial nominees receive an addition 600 CRS points when they get their provincial nomination, the CRS cut-off score is high. Without the provincial nomination, candidates would have had a previous CRS score of 151.

Candidates who received an invitation in this draw may now apply for Canada permanent residence.

Candidates with the minimum CRS score only received an invitation if they submitted their profiles before April 13, 2021, at 16:29:29 UTC. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) must publish this cut-off time whether there was an actual tie, as per administrative requirements for the tie-break rule.

So far in 2021, Canada has issued 102,779 ITAs to Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence. IRCC is well on the way to meet their target of issuing 108,500 ITAs through the Express Entry system in 2021. This time last year, IRCC had only issued 61,850 ITAs to Express Entry candidates.

Now that approved permanent residents are exempt from travel restrictions in Canada, overseas PNP applicants can complete their landing in Canada and become permanent residents.

If eligible for an Express Entry-managed program, candidates will be given a CRS score. Candidates are awarded points based on different human capital factors such as work experience, education, age, language skills, and more.
