Express Entry invites 3,000 CEC candidates to apply for permanent residence

Canada invited 3,000 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on August 19.

Candidates who received invitations must be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). In order to receive an invitation, candidates must have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 403.

For those candidates with the minimum CRS score requirement, were only invited if they submitted their Express Entry profiles before August 1, 2021, at 10:13:57 UTC. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) published the cut-off time for the tie-break rule as per an administrative requirement.

So far this year, IRCC has only been holding draws through the CEC and the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). There have been 16 draws of each type in 2021.

So far in 2021, Canada has issued 105,779 ITAs to Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residency. At the same time last year, IRCC had only issued 62,450 ITAs to Express Entry candidates. In 2021, IRCC has a goal to admit 108,500 Express Entry newcomers for permanent residency.

Express Entry is a point-based application system that manages immigration applications. If eligible for an Express Entry program, candidates will get a score based on the CRS. Points are awarded based on human capital factors such as skilled work experience, education, age, language ability, and more.

IRCC invites the highest scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence in regular rounds of invitation. Since the start of the pandemic, Canada has been holding CEC or PNP-only draws. This is because there is a high probability that the candidates in these programs are already in Canada so that they will be less likely to be affected by travel restrictions.
