Quebec held its biggest draw of the year through Arrima
Quebec immigration invited 515 candidates to apply for permanent selection on August 12.
This is the first round of invitations that the Quebec immigration department held through the new Expression of Interest (EOI) scoring system. As well, this is the biggest Arrima draw that Quebec has held in 2021.
The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) issued invitations to candidates from the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program (QRSWP) who filed an Expression of Interest in Arrima, Quebec’s online registration portal. The Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program is also referred to as the Quebec Skilled Worker Program or QSWP.
This is the first round of invitations since the introduction of a new classification system for QRSWP immigration candidates.
Invited candidates were from the following categories:
- their occupation on the list of targeted occupations by Quebec and have a score of at least 591 points in the Arrima EOI bank;
- they have a valid job offer outside of the Montreal Metropolitan Area;
- they reside in Quebec as a diplomat, consular official, United Nations representative, or representative of any intergovernmental organization operating in Quebec, and their staff;
- they are self-employed.
So far in 2021, a total of 1,060 immigration candidates have now been invited to apply for permanent selection by Quebec. This was the sixth (6th) draw of the year held by the province. Quebec aims to welcome up to 47,500 newcomers in 2021.
An EOI is a way for candidates to notify MIFI that they would like to be considered for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ), it is not an application. When a candidate received a CSQ, they may apply for permanent residence with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
